Life Model and Gallery Visit

We spend some time creating 1-minute-sketches of the life model in various poses; similar to the first class we had but many more and the turnover was a little more intense.

I really like some of these again. I'm really glad I looked into those tutoirals at the start of the semester to practise gesture drawings. I produced some nice lines I feel that depict the poses quite well. Although I can see where I become a little lost in analysing the contours of the body too much at times; an old habit that is difficult to ditch I suppose. The first one is always bad!

We then had around 20-30 minutes to draw the next one. Unfortunatly here I seemed to find the transition from a very small and short pose to a large and lone one a struggle. I realised a little too late that the drawing I was producing was pretty small and didn't use the space of the page. It was a small piece in the middle of a large piece of paper. This resulted in me finishing very early; which I regret. I didn't have the confidence to just stop and wait whilst everyone else continued and so I may have over-worked the piece. The facial features once again I feel are my biggest downfall here.

After this pose the life model had to leave and so we visited the Graves Art Gallery. After this we were told to go and observe the general public and draw them. I struggled a lot with this as I am not a fast drawer and I like to plan out for proportion. Also, as everyone was walking around it was very difficult.
